ACA is reminding Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services as well as families using their services, that the new Child Care Subsidy system will take effect in July next year.
On 2 July 2018, the Federal Government will replace the Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Child Care Rebate (CCR) with a single means-tested subsidy, known as the Child Care Subsidy (CCS).
For ECEC Services
ECEC services are encouraged to use the checklist of action items below, to ensure that their service is ready for the transition to the new Child Care Subsidy:
⦁ Ensure your CCB Approver details are ⦁ correct in CCMS
⦁ Visit the Department of Education and Training (DET)’s new ⦁ website
⦁ Encourage families to see how the new package will affect them
(by using the online subsidy estimator)
⦁ Download a brochure, poster and/or webtile
⦁ Like or follow DET's Facebook page, recently launched for stakeholders, service providers, early childhood educators and parents
ECEC services can also contact the CCMS Helpdesk on 1300 667 276 between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday (Australian Eastern Standard Time) for more assistance.
For Families
Families currently receiving the Child Care Benefit (CCB), Child Care Rebate (CCR) or the Jobs, Education & Training Child Care Fee Assistance, will be contacted further down the track by the Department of Education and Training and informed of what they need to do to ensure they are registered under the new system.
Families can use the online subsidy estimator to obtain an estimate of what their fortnightly subsidy will be under the new system.
